September 30 – Hancock County Community Foundations’ Match Day

The Hancock County Community Foundation (HCCF) is pleased to announce its third Match Day. The event is a stop on HCCF’s 30th anniversary “Thank You Tour”. The celebration includes music, food and beverage trucks, games and a carnival-atmosphere-Bash on Saturday, October 1. HCCF will provide up to $150,000 in matching gifts for donors who contribute to the endowment funds of fourteen participating nonprofit organizations. Here are all the details:

How does HCCF’s match work?
Match Day is a unique stop on the Community Foundation’s 30th Anniversary Thank You Tour:
• ALL community gifts will be endowed and proportionally matched with HCCF’s pool of $150,000.
• No administrative fees will be charged on Match Day gifts.
• 60% of HCCF’s match will grow endowment funds.
• 40% of HCCF’s match will be granted for immediate use.

What is an Operating Endowment?
• An operating endowment is established by a nonprofit organization to provide a sustainable revenue source to support
its day-to-day operations and services.
• It strengthens the long-term security of the organization allowing them to become less reliant on annual fundraising for
operating.
• It helps a nonprofit diversify the way in which they derive operating income. They have short-term needs; they have
long-term needs. Gifts to the endowment will help them address needs as they change over time.
• Because the principal of an operating endowment remains untouched for all time, the fund provides an ongoing,
perpetual stream of revenue.

Marie Felver, CPA, Vice-President of Finance & Operations [email protected]

HCCF provides philanthropic leadership by encouraging giving, learning, community pride and civic
engagement. Working with caring individuals, families, and organizations to create or grow existing
permanent endowment funds is critical to the organization’s mission. These funds generate income that is
distributed in the form of grants and scholarships to enrich and enhance life in Hancock County, as well as support the donor’s favorite charitable causes, both at home and afar forever. HCCF has granted millions of dollars since their inception in 1992.
