Today in Rock History – July 14

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s July 14th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day with Releases, we got the Talking Heads’ More Songs About Buildings and Food in 1978!

Other releases include Countdown to Extinction from Megadeth in 1992 and both Phantom Power by The Tragically Hip and Hello Nasty from the Beastie Boys in 1998!

Birthdays today include Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons!

Other birthdays include Bob Casale aka Bob 2 of DEVO and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D!

And speaking of video games, in 2008, the developers for the Rock video game Rock Band 2 announced that it would feature the new (at the time) Guns N Roses song Shackler’s Revenge when the game would release in September of that year.

We lost Gar Samuelson of Megadeth on this day in 1999.

Pink Floyd’s film The Wall premiered on this day in London in 1982

And finally in 1977, the BBC lifted their ban on the Sex Pistols, when they appeared on the music show Top Of The Pops to perform their song Pretty Vacant, which became a surprise hit in the UK.
