Today in Rock History – July 8

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s July 8th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day with releases, we got CCR’s Cosmo’s Factory in 1970!

Other releases include Smash Mouth’s Fush Yu Mang in 1997 and Regional at Best from Twenty One Pilots in 2011

Moving onto birthdays, we have Beck!

Other birthdays include Jamie Cook of Arctic Monkeys, Jaimoe of the Allman Brothers Band, and Carlos Cavazo of Quiet Riot!

In 2023, Elton John completed his world tour “Farewell Yellow Brick Road,” marking his retirement from touring, at Sweden’s Tele2 Arena.

And finally in 1997, founders of Weezer’s official fan club, sisters Mykel and Carli Allan, died in a car crash alongside their younger sister Trysta as they were on their way home from a Weezer show. The sisters were honored in several tribute songs including Jimmy Eat World’s Hear You Me and Weezer’s Mykel and Carli.
