Today in Rock History – July 1

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s July 1st and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day in 1979 as the Sony Walkman was introduced in Japan and how the world listens to music is forever changed. And just because I can, here’s the Guardians of the Galaxy intro featuring the Walkman.

We’ve got some big releases today! Starting off we have Music from Big Pink by The Band in 1968!

Other releases include Toulouse Street from The Doobie Brothers in 1972, Three Dollar Bill, Y’all from Limp Bizkit in 1997, Heathen Chemistry from Oasis in 2002 and Screaming for Vengeance from Judas Priest in 1982

Birthdays today include Roddy Bottum of Faith No More, Fred Schneider of The B-52’s, Debbie Harry of Blondie!

We lost the rock and roll radio legend Wolfman Jack in 1995 from a heart attack.

And finally in 2008, Crue Fest began in West Palm Beach, FL, and features performances from namesake Motley Crue, Buckcherry, Papa Roach, and Trapt
