Today in Rock History – June 25

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s June 25th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

It’s a big day for releases and what a way to start it as in 1984, we got Prince’s Purple Rain

We also got two Alice Cooper albums on this day: Pretties for You in 1969 and Alice Cooper Goes to Hell in 1976

Other albums include One Size Fits All from Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention in 1975, Murray Street from Sonic Youth in 2002 and the final Screaming Trees album, Dust in 1996.

Moving onto birthdays now, we have Mike Kroeger of Nickelback, Ian McDonald of Foreigner, David Paich of Toto, Allen Lanier of Blue Oyster Cult, Jakob Nowell of Sublime and John McCrea of Cake!

Weezer signed with DGC Records in 1993

And finally in 1988, we lost Hillel Slovak of the Red Hot Chili Peppers from an accidental heroin overdose. While only playing with the band for a short time, he left huge impact on the band’s sound. So much impact, he was even inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as apart of the Chili Peppers.
