Today in Rock History – July 20

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s July 20th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

We lost Chester Bennington of Linkin Park in 2017 after committing suicide at his home in California.

Moving onto birthdays now and we have one of Chester’s close friends Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog.

We also have Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam and Temple of the Dog!

Other birthdays today include: Mike Kennerty of The All-American Rejects, Anderw Stockdale of Wolfmother, Jay Jay French of Twisted Sister, Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage, Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols, and Carlos Santana!

Moving onto releases now, we got 461 Ocean Boulevard from Eric Clapton in 1974 and Pleasant Dreams by the Ramones in 1981!

One final release in 1986, as Sid And Nancy, the biopic chronicling the troubled relationship of Sex Pistol Sid Vicious (Gary Oldman) and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen (Chloe Webb), premiered in London.

And finally in 1975, Bruce Springsteen began their Born To Run tour in Providence, RI. This show would also be the debut of longtime E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt.
