Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s May 25th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting off on a sadder note as we lost Brad Nowell of Sublime in 1996 of a heroin overdose. Nowell died just a week after marrying Troy Dendekker, the mother of his son, Jakob.
We have two releases today: Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses) from Slipknot in 2004 and Holy Diver from DIO in 1983!
Another release on this day in the film world as Back to the Future Part III released in theaters in 1990. This is important in rock history as it featured a cameo from ZZ Top as the band at the Festival. They fit in perfectly!
Birthdays today feature Robby Steinhardt of Kansas, Klaus Meine of the Scorpions, and Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace!
In 2001, Oasis’ Noel Gallagher won his damages case against UK publication The Daily Mirror after the magazine claimed Gallagher lied in court during his divorce proceedings with ex-wife Meg Matthews.
In 2012, during a show in Atlantic City, Garbage’s lead singer Shirley Manson stopped the show during their song Stupid Girl to call out a man in the crowd who was abusing a woman. You can see the altercation below:
In 2004, Trey Anastasio of Phish announced in a letter to fans that the band were breaking up. 5 years later, the band would reunite.
In 1978, Keith Moon performed with The Who for the final time. Moon would die a few weeks later.
And finally in 2011, Judas Priest appeared and performed on American Idol with contestant James Durbin. Not only was it a rarity for the program, but this performance marks the debut of guitarist Richie Faulkner as he replaces K. K. Downing, who was dealing with health issues at the time.
