Today in Rock History – November 29

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s November 29th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting with releases, we got Tormented from Staind in 1996 and GN’R Lies from Guns N Roses in 1988!

And the first Now That’s What I Call Music was released in 1983 in the UK. The brand has since expanded into other countries and with HUNDREDS of volumes released since then with some becoming Platinum selling records!

Moving onto birthdays now, we have Terry Glaze of Pantera!

Other birthdays include: Frank Delgado of the Deftones, Michael Dempsey of The Cure, and Barry Gondreau of Boston!

In 1979, the original lineup of KISS play for the final time together before their original breakup. The band would continue and feature a rotating lineup, but the original four members would reunite for one off appearances throughout the years.

And finally, we lost George Harrison in 2001 from lung cancer at the age of 58.

Just a year later, The Concert for George took place in 2002 in honor of Harrison. Performers that night included Harrison’s Beatles bandmates Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Billy Preston, George’s son Dhani, and members of the comedy troupe Monty Python. Profits from the show went to Material World Charitable Foundation.
