Today in Rock History – May 5

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s May 5th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting it off with birthdays and it’s a good day to be a metal drummer as we have both Shawn Drover formerly of Megadeth and Bill Ward of Black Sabbath!

Moving onto releases now and we’ve got quite a few. Starting off we have Hard Promises by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in 1981

We also got Radiohead’s The Drill EP in 1992, No Substance by Bad Religion in 1998, and Sandwich from the Comedy-Metal band Psychostick. If you haven’t listened to Psychostick before, you’re in for a wild ride!

Another release happened in 2008, when Trent Reznor released The Slip. I’m pointing this one out specifically because Reznor posted the entire album on his website for free.

In 1995, former Guns n’ Roses drummer Steven Adler is arrested for possession, as well as two misdemeanor drug charges.

And finally in 1974, Television appeared at CBGB’s in NYC. They were supported by CBGB’s first timers the Stilettoes. The Stilettoes would go on to become better known as Blondie.
