Not the chocolate milk! I went to a school where you could only get chocolate milk on Friday. And I always looked forward to Friday lunch specifically for that. I also hate regular milk, so there’s that.

A New York school system is contemplating doing away with it completely though. According to WLNY, the same system banned whole milk in 2006 and considered nixing chocolate milk then as well.

They cite the high sugar content as the reason. Chocolate milk contains about 10 grams more sugar than regular milk.

Many parents aren’t backing the ban though. Some say that kids need the calcium the beverage provides. Others say if it goes, children will just opt for juice or soda.

Maybe my school had it right by just offering chocolate milk on Friday.
