There’s only one way to start the day, as we got Ten from Pearl Jam in 1991!
We also got Pearl Jam’s No Code in 1996, Eric Clapton’s No Reason to Cry in 1976, In the Heat of the Night from Pat Benatar in 1979 and in 2002 we got both Thirty Seconds to Mars’ self-titled debut and Songs for the Deaf from Queens of the Stone Age!
We lost Stevie Ray Vaughan in a helicopter crash in 1990 at the age of 35.
We also lost Beatles manager Brian Epstein from an accidental drug overdose in 1967.
It’s Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols, Tony Kanal of No Doubt, and Alex Lifeson of Rush’s birthdays today!
Jimi Hendrix recorded his final studio recording ever in 1970, an instrumental titled Slow Blues.
In 2024, just two days before the 30th anniversary of their debut album, Oasis announced their 2025 reunion tour in the UK
In 2018, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In 1987, a deadlocked jury causes a judge to declare the case against Dead Kennedys’ frontman Jello Biafra a mistrial. Biafra was charged with distributing harmful material to minors as the band included a poster of H. R. Giger’s Landscape #XX in the sleeve of the band’s 1985 album Frankenchrist. This would be the first time a musician would be prosecuted for album art. The trial would also be one of the final breaking points for the band as they would break up the following year.
And finally in 1989, Izzy Stradlin of Guns N Roses was arrested at a Phoenix airport after he peed on the floor of a plane he was on, because he had to wait to use the bathroom. I guess you could say Izzy could’ve used a little PATIENCE!! I’ll see myself out.
