Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s November 16th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!
We spoke about it yesterday, so let’s get it out of the way now as Korn released Issues on this day 1999!
MTV’s TRL came to an end in 2008.
In 1974, John Lennon became the final Beatle to hit No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his solo hit Whatever Gets You Through the Night. The song, featuring Elton John on piano and harmonies, would be Lennon’s only number 1 to release in his lifetime.
With birthdays, we have Christian Lorenz of Rammstein!
Other birthdays include Eric Judy of Modest Mouse and Chris Layton of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s backing band Double Trouble!
In 1968, Led Zeppelin made their live debut at a gig at Manchester College of Science & Technology.
In 2010, the majority of The Beatles’ music was made available for digital download when iTunes adds the group’s catalog to the digital storefront.
And finally, as Queen played Madison Square Garden in 1978, several dozen naked women riding bicycles joined the band onstage during a performance of their new song Bicycle Race, replicating their now infamous music video. If you want to find the video, it’s on YouTube ya perverts.
