Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s October 30th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!
Starting the day in 1970 as Black Sabbath invaded the States for the first time when they played the Glassboro State College in New Jersey. The show was interrupted twice when the breakers blew and the power went out.
Sticking with Sabbath, as in 1998, the metal world was treated to a momentary Black Sabbath reunion as the original four members appeared on the David Letterman Show just to play one song.
It just seems we can’t stop talking about Ozzy and late night TV hosts today, as, in 2010, The Blizzard teamed up with Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens to perform a comedic take on Ozzy’s Crazy Train and Yusuf’s Peace Train as apart of the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear. The rally was organized and hosted by John Stewart and Stephen Colbert, so, of course, hilarity ensued.
In 2004, an arrest warrant was placed on Motley Crue singer Vince Neil after he allegedly knocked out a soundman during a Crue show in Dallas. The man was helping adjust Neil’s guitar after he asked for more volume, but Vince just attacked the guy. They should’ve hired the guy for their most recent tours so we wouldn’t have to hear Vince’s singing.
On a more serious note, in 2007, Linda Stein, the manager who helped launched the careers of The Ramones, Talking Heads, and The Pretenders was found beaten to death in her Manhattan apartment at the age of 62. Her assistant Natavia Lowery was later found guilty of the murder.
The 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place on this day. Inductees included Todd Rundgren, Tina Turner, the Go-Go’s, and the Foo Fighters.

Other birthdays include Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Chris Slade of AC/DC and Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles!
With releases, we got Different Class by Pulp in 1995, Toto’s Hydra in 1979, Elton John’s Tumbleweed Connection in 1970 and Spreading the Disease from Anthrax in 1985!
In 2008, the creators of the rhythm video game series Rock Band secured the rights to produce the first ever Beatles video game. It would aptly be named The Beatles Rock Band.
And finally in 1999, in what would be one of the earliest attempts at livestreaming ever, the annual Bridge School Benefit concert was cast across the internet for those brave enough to try and get their modems to work. On the bill that night included The Who, Pearl Jam and Green Day.
