Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s July 24th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

The third day of Woodstock ’99 began on this day in 1999 (shocker) in Rome, NY. A riot would break out that day due to overpriced water, horrible port-a-potties, and one of the craziest performances from Limp Bizkit. By the following day, MTV, who covered the event, called the festival Apocalypse Woodstock.

Other releases include Bleed American by Jimmy Eat World in 2001 and Sum 41’s Underclass Hero in 2007!
Two Birthdays today and those are Joel Stroetzel of Killswitch Engage and Paul Geary of Extreme!

In 2003, Johnny Cash became one of the oldest MTV VMA nominees for the video for his cover of Nine Inch Nails song Hurt, earning six noms, eventually winning the Best Cinematography.
In 1997, Liam Gallagher of Oasis assaulted a bicyclist from the window of his car, breaking the man’s sunglasses. Gallagher received a warning from police.
In 1977, Led Zeppelin played their final concert in the U.S. when they played the Alameda County Coliseum in Oakland, CA. The tour was planned to continue but was canceled two days later due to the death of Robert Plant’s son Karac.
And finally in 2014, 60’s rock & roll singer Chubby Checker settled a lawsuit with Hewlett-Packard over an app they created called “The Chubby Checker.” Costing 99 cents, the app was apparently used to estimate the size of a man’s *cough* penis *cough* size based on their shoe size.
