Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s July 7th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day in 2007 when the worldwide charity concert event Live Earth took place at 12 different venues on all seven continents to help raise awareness of global warming. The charity concerts featured a WIDE variety of performers including the Foo Fighters, The Police, the Chili Peppers, the Dave Matthews Band, the Beastie Boys and Linkin Park.
Moving onto Birthdays now, we have Ringo Starr of The Beatles!
Johnny Fay of The Tragically Hip, Ilan Rubin of Nine Inch Nails, and Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold!
Moving into Releases now, we got Permission to Land from the Darkness in 2003!
Other releases include Fun House from The Stooges in 1970 and Styx’s seventh album, The Grand Illusion in 1977!
We lost Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd in 2006 from pancreatic cancer at the age of 60.
In 1968, The Yardbirds officially broke up but guitarist Jimmy Page tries to keep it alive with new members. The New Yardbirds would eventually evolve into the band we know today as Led Zeppelin.
We continue with Zeppelin as on this day in 1980, the band played what would be their final gig with the original lineup, performing at the Eissporthalle in West Berlin, West Germany. Drummer John Bonham would die later year.
And finally in 1989, The Grateful Dead performed the final event at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, just six day before the stadium would be condemned
