Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s June 24th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting off with releases and its a great day to be a Pantera fan, as we got both Power Metal in 1988 and Cowboys from Hell in 1990!
Other releases include Elton John’s Caribou in 1974, Bleed American from Jimmy Eat World in 2001, and two debuts: De-Loused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta in 2003 and My Own Prison from Creed in 1997.
Moving onto birthdays now, we have Jeff Beck, Chris Wood of Traffic, Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac, Richard Kruspe of Rammstein, Joh Illsley of Dire Straits and Jeff Cease of The Black Crowes
We lost JoJo Billingsley of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2010.
In 2008, a blogger that leaked tracks from Guns N’ Roses upcoming album Chinese Democracy is visited by the FBI and receives a cease-and-desist letter.
In 1992, Billy Joel gets his high school diploma at the age of 43, just 25 years after leaving his high school with a missing English credit.
And finally in 1995, after eating a bad tuna fish sandwich, Eddie Vedder leaves a Pearl Jam show at the Polo Fields in San Francisco. To help quell a potential riot, Neil Young, of all people, steps up to perform a 14 song set with the band. The band’s song Red Mosquito from their 1996 album No Code is about the incident.
