Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s June 20th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Its a bit of a slow one today but its a banger for releases! Starting off we got Double Vision from Foreigner in 1978!
We also got De Stijl from The White Stripes in 2000 and The Real Thing from Faith No More in 1989
As well as Blonde on Blonde from Bob Dylan in 1966 and Aoxomoxa from the Grateful Dead in 1969!
I guess I should also mention that The Blues Brothers hit theaters on this day in 1980
It’s Michael Anthony of Van Halen’s birthday today!
Other birthdays include: Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson, Miaoux Miaoux of Franz Ferdinand, Yuimetal of Babymetal, and Chino Moreno of the Deftones!
And I can’t forget to mention that its the late Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys’ birthday!
In 2019, David Gilmour auctioned off 126 of his guitars for a charity auction to help fight climate change. Breaking $21M USD, one of the 126 guitars included “The Black Strat,” a 1969 Fender Stratocaster used on three of Floyd’s biggest albums: The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall.
And finally in 1969 the first day of the Newport ’69 music festival begins, headlined by Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix was paid $125,000, which at the time was considered the highest fee ever for an act. The festival was also considered at the time to be the largest-ever concert, tickets cost $15. The festival was marred by violence as police tried to stop gate-crashers.
