Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s June 8th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting off with releases and boy is it a good one as we got Californication from the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1999
We also got Angel Dust from Faith No More in 1992, Clockwork Angels from Rush in 2012, and both Contraband from supergroup Velvet Revolver and Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge from My Chemical Romance in 2004!
Moving onto birthdays now, we have Boz Scaggs, Greg Ginn of Black Flag and Derek Trucks of The Allman Brothers Band and the Tedeschi Trucks Band!
In 1974, Rick Wakeman departed YES to pursue a solo career. Wakeman would return just two years later, then leave again after another four.
In 2006, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer graduates from Harvard with a degree in English
In 1970, after mistakenly driving to close to the border of East Germany, Deep Purple had their van, filled with their equipment for their European tour, impounded by police.
And finally in 1969, Brian Jones left The Rolling Stones after a discussion between Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts took place at Jones’ home. He would be replaced by Mick Taylor. A month later Jones was found dead in his swimming pool
