Self-Pour Bar Coming To Former Moe & Johnny’s Location

Beer taps

Back in late 2020, Moe & Johnny’s closed after 26 years in business. If you’ve recently driven by the building at 5380 N College Avenue, you might have noticed some new signage…

From 1974 to 1994, the The Bulldog occupied the space, according to IBJ, and the name is being revived by John Bales, who has been the landlord for over a decade. Get ready for The Bulldog Bar & Lounge, which is set to open this May.

The name is an attempt to stir up some nostalgia, but the beer wall system is something new to the location. There will be 48 self-pour taps spread out across two walls for patrons to serve themselves.

Customers pay for a wristband and scan it when they want to fill their glasses. Them, they are charged per ounce which will vary based on the type of beer.

It appears that traditional bar service will still be available, but business owner Brian Knoderer says the self-service model is the future of the industry. “You don’t have to wait for service. If you need a drink, go get a drink.”
