Szechuan Sauce Is Coming Back To McDonald’s

Way back in 1998, McDonald’s introduced Szechuan sauce to promote a little movie called Mulan. Customers loved the sauce made with soy, garlic, ginger and mild vinegar.

But, shortly after introducing it, the fast food chain pulled it from the menu. It took 19 years for them to bring it back, thanks to a campaign inspired by the cartoon Rick & Morty.

In both 2017 and 2018, Szechuan sauce was made available in limited quantities, and it was gone pretty much immediately.

This time around, customers will only be able to get it on the McDonald’s app. According to WGN9, on March 31 Szechuan sauce will be available with an order of McNuggets.

Additionally, up to five sauce packets can be purchased as a separate item.
