I love a good cover. It is sometimes my favorite part of concerts. This is not one of those.
So earlier this year, PUDDLE OF MUDD did a live cover of NIRVANA’s “About a Girl”. And surprisingly, it went mostly unnoticed for several months.
I say “surprisingly”, because it is THE WORST cover that has ever been attempted in the history of music. And no, I can’t prove that. But you can’t DISPROVE it, either. So here we are.
Musically, it sounds fine. But singer WES SCANTLIN just isn’t up to the task. And that’s putting it mildly. Let’s just say that even if you hate KURT COBAIN’s singing, you’ll agree he sounds angelic compared to this.
The video just started going viral, with more than a million views. And it’s quickly racking up the dislikes . . . As of last night, there were 17,000, compared to 2,500 likes. It’s actually kind of terrifying that 2,500 people are okay with this.
There are some pretty classic comments under the video. Including this one: Me: “Courtney Love was the worst thing that ever happened to Kurt Cobain.” Puddle of Mudd: “Hold my beer.”
