Foster A Pet While You’re Stuck At Home Social Distancing!

It took me a couple of days to realize that WFH meant “work from home” because I’m not used to see it so much! However, so many people are cooped up at home in an effort to slow the spread of the novel Coronavirus (aka COVID-19), so it’s getting used a lot more on social media! #socialdistancing

That said, local animal shelters want you to take advantage of the extra time you’re spending at home! If you can adopt a pet right now, go for it! If you don’t usually have a ton of time to be at home, why not foster for the time being?

Shelters are having to lay out temporary policies due to the public health concerns, which means fewer people are allowed in their buildings at a given time. That might slow down potential adoptions and moving those fur babies out.

As far as surrendering pets goes, Hamilton Humane says they still will not turn any away. Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) asks that you call first and leave a message before dropping off any animals. They also add that IndyCARES will still be available to help pet owners care for animals so they don’t have to surrender them to the shelter. Pet owners in need of assistance can contact IndyCARES by emailing [email protected]!!

See these sites if you can help out a fur baby for the time being, maybe even want to adopt, or make donations:

Thanks for being a good person!
