Meet Zoe—The NFL’s First Emotional Support Dog [PHOTOS]

Frenchie

My Instagram feed basically consists of dogs and food. Those accounts make up 90% of my following list. And I just added another dog to the group…the NFL’s first (and so far only) emotional support dog.

Her name is Zoe, she is a Frenchie and she hangs out with the San Francisco 49ers.

According to Good Morning America, the team has been putting a big focus on mental health. Zoe helps players overcome pre and post game anxiety and depression.

49ers defensive end Solomon Thomas has been pretty open about his struggles with mental health. A few months ago he told the Athletic, “A dog could be a perfect getaway for some guys, and sometimes you don’t know what a dog could mean.”

“I can have a good practice or come in there really mad, or come in really sad, and Zoë races over to me. I can just play with the little puppy for 10 or 15 minutes; that just kind of resets my day and lets me put everything back into perspective.”

Dear Indianapolis Colts, you should hop on this train! There are some wonderful puppers in the local shelters looking for a home…and a chance at stardom. Do ittttt.
