They say next to Thanksgiving, people gorging for the Super Bowl is the next largest day of eating out of the year. I’m always curious just how much food is going to be consumed during Sunday’s game, and it’s pretty amazing to see the numbers.
You have to figure over half of Americans will be watching the game on Sunday. About 189 million people in this country, to be exact.
Here’s a little breakdown:
- Beer and wine are game-day favorites
- 1.3 BILLION chicken wings shall be consumed
- Add 140 MILLION pounds of guacamole to that
- Domino’s is on track to sell 12 MILLION slices of pizza
- 48 MILLION people will call for delivery or grab some carryout
- $140.2 million will be spent on chips
- Let’s not forget about those veggies! $5.1 will be spent on vegetable trays
